What is Hero's Pursuit?

Our Mission and Curriculum

Much concern and attention has been given to girls and self-esteem and leadership, which lead to the development of our popular curriculum: Athena’s Path. But in years of working with girls, we continued to hear: “What about the Boys?”

Yes, boys need special – but different – attention as well. Our boys face increasing social and cultural pressures in middle school. Boys need to learn how to handle those pressures and situations in their own style. Boys need to learn to be men. Boys want to learn to be heroes. Yes, their parents should – and do – teach them. It’s helpful to also hear those messages from other male mentors, the “cool” older kids and the other grown-ups that guide them. We know too that boys must have fun and stay busy.

That’s why we developed Hero’s Pursuit.
We offer a fun and innovative program that will not only engage and entertain today's adolescent male but teach him how to:

Meet the Leaders
What about the girls

• Develop leadership qualities
• Balance friendships
• Compete tactfully
• Navigate social pressure
• Carry determination towards success
• Respectfully interact with the opposite sex
• Take action in the community

Developed by Michelle Icard, founder of Athena’s Path and Jeremy Spielman, principal of Charlotte Secondary School, this program is compatible with Athena's Path, but has a unique slant towards how boys learn, relate, and have fun. The program is led by certified male teachers and assisted by very cool, impressive high school boys who help keep things fun, meaningful and - should I say? – REAL.

We invite you and your young teenage boy to consider Hero’s Pursuit. We think he’ll have a great time. You’ll know – but don’t tell him – that he’s learned valuable lessons to carry him through middle school – and beyond.
